Identity Theft

Identity Theft happens when fraudsters use stolen personal financial information for their own gain.  Recovering from identity theft is a process and can feel overwhelming. However, acting quickly can help you limit the damage, fix your credit, and help protect yourself from future identity theft. Keep a detailed record of all steps you take.

Important Steps if you are a victim of Identity Theft

  1. Contact your bank or credit card company to report that you are a victim of identity theft.  Depending on the type of identity theft or fraud, the bank or credit card company may close your accounts or reissue your credit or debit card.
